Litchi down blight was caused by Peronophythora litchii is one of the disease of litchi. This fungus is closely related to Peronospora in general morphological characteristics, but at the same time it is also very much like Phytophthora spp., since the shape of sporangia has some resemblance to that of the latter. Ko et al named the new family Peronophythoraceae between Pythiaceae and Peronosporaceae.To further understand phylogenetic relationship among Peronophythora litchii and other oomycetes fungi. We assumed random amplified polymorphic DNA (RAPD) and restriction fragment length polymorphism (RFLP) analysis of Peronophytliora litchii, Pythium spp. and Phytophthora spp..We obtained several cloned DNA fragments from Peronophythora litchii and Phytophthora capsici DNA of Peronophythora litchii, Pythium spp. and Phytophthora spp. were detected with the probes by Southern blotting and dot blotting. The primary result exhibited genetic diversity among the isolates of oomycetes.
