Plant Doctor activity in action!

Proving there’s no rest for the wicked; the BSPP outreach team has been asked to demonstrate the Plant Doctor activity at another event! This time we’ll be heading to the seaside for the BBC One Show Summer Festival, taking place in Weston-super-Mare on the 6th and 7th August.

The One Show Summer Festival is expected to attract between 5-8,000 visitors. Some activities at the event will be filmed for the One Show, so make sure you tune in to BBC One on the 7th August at 7pm just in case!

The purpose of The One Show Summer Festival is educate and entertain, encouraging the One Show audience to learn new skills and acquire new knowledge. The aim is to engage as many people as possible.

We’ll be running a very similar activity to the Plant Doctor stand at the Bristol Festival of Nature. Visitors will be asked to match up similar human and plant diseases, and identify ‘plant patient’ symptoms to work out if the diseases are fungal or viral. They will also be able to look at healthy and diseased plants close-up under microscopes.
