Robert Coutts has been involved with plant pathology since undergraduate days at Chelsea College, University of London where he studied microbiology. A specialised interest in virology was developed during his PhD studies under Ted Cocking at Nottingham University which have been maintained throughout his career. Currently a reader in Molecular Virology at Imperial College University of London, he is developing a wider interest in fungal viruses and virus replication.
