It may seem a long way away but the team at the BSPP is already planning the PPATH and ECPP meetings to be held in 2027. The last few meetings have been held in Birmingham (twice), Newcastle and Oxford, and the next two will be in Nottingham (Sept 9-11, 2025) and Norwich (Sept 8-10, 2026). We’d like to move the meeting around the UK, so we are asking the membership for suggestions for venues. We also want to ensure that the venue is reasonably easy and affordable to travel to for the bulk of the membership; this rules out places outside mainland Great Britain.
Since 2023, and following a survey of members, we have settled on holding the meetings in mid-September. This is in the gap between school holidays and university fresher weeks. So, the 2027 meeting would most likely be held for 3 days or so in the weeks beginning 7th or 13th Sept 2027.
We need a lecture theatre that can comfortably hold 250 (i.e. its nominal capacity is 300 or more), one or two smaller lecture theatres for parallel sessions, a space where about 150 posters can be displayed, plus 6 or more exhibitors and where the catering takes place. We also need about 150 bedrooms within easy reach and finally a dining facility for 250 or so. We have found that it is very desirable if there is a BSPP member employed at the hosting venue to help us navigate the local bureaucracy. Such a person could be co-opted on to the organising committee but this would not be an onerous commitment.
