Dr Anna Platoni
Plant Health Scientist (Entomology) & Shows Biosecurity lead
I have been a Plant Health Scientist at the Royal Horticultural Society (RHS) for almost 9 years. My background is in Entomology and previous work at the RHS has included answering members’ insect-related gardening questions, research into the physical protection of crops against carrot fly and acting as scientific consultant for several RHS Show Gardens including Butterfly Domes at Hampton Court Palace Garden Festival and RHS Flower Show Tatton Park. I recently returned to work for the RHS full time after completing PhD research into the interactions between plants, pollinators and plant disease. Since my return, I have been leading the RHS biosecurity programme at shows, creating and enforcing policy and supporting both RHS teams and show exhibitors to ensure that the RHS shows are as safe as possible for our plants, our exhibitors’ businesses and the wider environment.
