BSPP2019: Arms race: Evolution of plant pathogens and their hosts

VENUE: Exhibition and Conference Centre, University of West England, Frenchay campus.
ARRIVING BY CAR: use the North Entrance. Car parking permits (no charge) will be available at registration and need to clearly displayed.
SPEAKERS: contact registration desk to ensure your presentation is loaded before the session starts. For those who can only show material via Apple software (e.g. videos) please bring your own laptop and we’ll connect directly.
POSTERS: fixing material will be available (pins, velcro). The posters will be displayed outside the lecture theatre.

This two day conference will present current knowledge of how pathogens overcome host defences and how plants respond to evolving disease challenges. Welcome to the Arms Race – an exciting opportunity to learn what’s happening at a crucial frontier of scientific research.
Invited speakers at this two day conference will include:
David Guttman (U Toronto, Canada) and Honour McCann (Massey University, NZ) on bacterial plant pathogens, Wenbo Ma (UC Riverside, USA) on fungi, Sebastian Schornack (U Cambridge) on oomycetes, John Carr (U Cambridge) on viruses and Jonathan Jones (Sainsbury Lab) on plant/pathogen co-evolution.
The 2019 winner of the prestigious RKS Wood Prize will give a talk and prizes will be awarded for best student talk and poster.
