Siân Deller – Biography
My role in Syngenta is to uncover how novel chemicals can protect crops against economically important plant pathogens. This information is vital to control crop diseases and is essential in our goal of delivering increasingly effective and ever safer products to farmers. The research of my team is split between supporting company projects and development of new capabilities. We build up an in-depth understanding of any new mechanism of chemical control; the cellular function, pathways and proteins involved, and the cross-kingdom relevance of the target. Innovative new capabilities are always being put in place to give rapid answers about the biology of fungal and oomycete phytopathogens, and also common weed species.
