Incoming Fellowships
BSPP members who are already post-doctoral may apply for BSPP Incoming Fellowships to support a visiting researcher to work with them for one to three months duration.
There are two deadlines each year for submission of applications; The 30th April and 31st October.
Decisions will be communicated within 6 weeks of the deadlines, and funding must then be used within 6 months of the award.
Fellowships are intended to stimulate and facilitate studies or training to the benefit of plant pathology.
Any applicant must be at least post-doctoral and have been a member of BSPP for at least two years, or have a three-year membership. No member may be awarded a BSPP Incoming Fellowship more than once in any period of five years. The visiting researcher must also become a member of BSPP.
BSPP Incoming Fellowships are intended to support (a) travel, accommodation and other personal costs directly related to the visit and (b) a contribution to consumables and other essential research costs directly related to the applicant’s proposed research in the host laboratory.
The maximum value of an award is generally £5000 although members are encouraged to be economical.
Applications can not be submitted for both the travel fund and for a fellowship in the same year. Where there are several applications of equal merit, the board reserves the right to prioritise applicants who have not previously received BSPP funding.
