Pl. papillae. 1) Generally a nipple-like structure. 2) Cuticular papilla, a raised thickening in plant cuticle, not large enough to be considered a trichome or hair. 3) Accumulation of material at the host plant’s cell wall at the site of a penetration attempt by a fungus (or Oomycete).
