1) Growing of plants (in vivo or in vitro) at an elevated temperature to eradicate plant pathogens from the meristematic area of infected plants. Usually combined with meristem-tip culture to make virus-free clones. 2) Treatment of seeds with elevated temperature to kill pathogenic microorganisms.
