Each year, the BSPP Board considers nominations for Honorary Membership of the Society, recognising individuals who have made an outstanding and lasting contribution to plant pathology and to our community.
The Board will normally award one Honorary Membership per year, with the next award to be considered for 2027.
Who can be nominated?
Any BSPP member is welcome to put forward a nomination. The Board will consider individuals whose contribution to the discipline has been significant and sustained. Whether through research, service, or professional leadership, nominations will be assessed on each individual’s own merits.
Criteria the Board will consider include:
- An outstanding contribution to plant pathology and to the plant pathologist community, in the UK or internationally
- Significant and sustained service to the BSPP Board, its committees, or the Society more broadly over an extended period
- A meaningful contribution, through employment or voluntary effort, over 10 years or more to the professional development of the discipline
- Significant impact as a senior plant pathologist, recognised at a national or international level
Nominees would not normally be current members of the BSPP Board or Senior Editors of BSPP journals.
