The RKS Wood Prize is awarded in honour of Professor RKS Wood, whose pioneering contribution helped establish Physiological Plant Pathology as a discipline in its own right. The prize celebrates excellent science in the study of plant disease biology and its application in protecting plants against pathogens.
The recipient will receive a prize of £1,000 and will be invited to give a lecture on their achievements at one of BSPP’s meetings. All reasonable expenses will be covered.
Deadline: 31 July 2026
Who can be nominated?
We welcome nominations from BSPP members for any individual whose work has made a meaningful, positive impact on society, agriculture, or the environment. This includes research that has advanced our understanding of plant–pathogen interactions, as well as work that has contributed to improved disease control in agriculture, forestry, or the natural environment.
Impact does not need to be demonstrated solely through published scientific journals; we encourage nominations that reflect the full breadth of a nominee’s contributions.
You can view past winners of the RKS Wood Prize on the BSPP website.
How to nominate
To nominate, please complete the form below. Nominations should provide clear evidence of the nominee’s achievements, covering both scientific and broader impacts. We encourage you to make the case for why your nominee’s work matters, and why now is the right time to recognise it.
