Dr Pierre Buscaill – Bio for ECPP24
Pierre Buscaill is a biologist based at the University of Bristol, with a passion for plant immunity. He pursued his undergraduate studies in Biological Sciences at the University of Albi (France), followed by an MSc in Plant Sciences at the University of Toulouse (France). Pierre received his PhD from the Laboratory of Plant-Microbe Interactions (LIPM) at the National Institute for Research and Agronomy (INRA, France). During his doctoral research, Pierre delved into understanding the regulation of transcriptional plant immunity. Subsequently, he embarked on a Postdoctoral Researcher role at the Plant Chemetics Lab at the University of Oxford (UK). Here, Pierre focused on unravelling the extracellular recognition of bacterial pathogens in plants. Currently, at the University of Bristol, Pierre’s research revolves around elucidating the mechanisms behind the wound entry of bacterial pathogens. By better understanding plant immunity and microbial colonization, his current research aims to address fundamental research questions while developing new crop protection strategies.
