Preparing for your Presentation
Poster Sessions: Posters should be portrait orientation and A0 in size (84.1 x 118.9cm / 33.1 x 46.8 inches). Supplies for hanging posters will be provided. All poster boards will be numbered, and you will be allocated a number ahead of the conference. There is no specific poster template.
Audio/Visual Facilities: the ECPP/PPATH Conference talks will take place in the John Innes Conference Centre 320-seater auditorium. We will have an audio/visual team onsite for the duration of the conference. Oral presenters will be provided with a secure OneDrive upload link to load their presentation ahead of the session, the conference organisers will collate these into one slide deck for each session. You will be provided with a date and time by which you must have uploaded your presentation. You will not be able to plug your laptop or USB devices into the AV system at the venue. Last minute minor amendments can be made on the day if required. Speaker/presenter view will be available.
We require your presentation to be prepared in Powerpoint with slides at full screen display of ratio 16:9.
Conference venue Information
Arrival at JIC: Please check in to the John Innes Conference Centre Foyer upon your arrival. Registration will be from 09:00 on Tuesday and 08:00 on Wednesday – Friday, where you can collect your name badge. For Health & Safety reasons it is important you sign in with the team on the registration desk.
Parking: Please indicate on your registration form if you are planning to drive. Parking is available onsite and you will be required to register your car with reception each day you attend. If you do not register your car onsite, you will be subject to a parking ticket that we will be unable to retract as this is issued by an external company. If you book the UEA accommodation, free onsite parking is available, and registration will be required at the Broadview hotel. We recommend you walk from the UEA campus to the John Innes Centre Conference Centre.
Dining & Refreshments: Registration includes breakfast, lunch and morning and afternoon breaks and the conference dinner on Wednesday. Breakfast will be served in the John Innes Conference centre foyer from 08:00-09:15am (Wednesday/Thursday/Friday). The Centrum building has a public café available to use, which is open from 08:30am for breakfast pastries, scones and yoghurts which attendees can use if arriving early on Tuesday morning. They also serve lunch from 12 noon. At the end of the day of Thursday, The Rec (next door to the conference centre) will be open for congratulating the award winners and finding colleagues for dinner. Wi-Fi is available onsite, through Eduroam or the ‘nbiconf’ and the password will be available on arrival.
Conference dinner
The conference dinner will be held at Dunston Hall (Ipswich Road, Norwich, NR148PQ) on Wednesday 9th September. The dinner is included in early bird registration, but we ask anyone who is not planning to attend to indicate this during registration. Coach transfers will be provided from the John Innes Conference Centre to Dunston Hall, as well a return coach to the UEA. Reserve your seat when completing registration. For those wishing to drive, parking is available.
Accommodation
Accommodation is available on the Norwich Research Park, approx. 15 minutes walk from the JIC Conference Centre. It is bookable via the University of East Anglia (UEA) and it is to be booked separately – please see link to page to view available accommodation options and how to book. We advice booking your accommodation as soon as possible as spaces as limited.

The John Innes Centre is located on Norwich Research Park, Zone 2. You can use the postcode NR4 7UH to find us – however if you are driving this address may take you to the goods entrance. The main entrance and car park is best accessed at the crossroads with the traffic lights on Colney Lane. To get a more accurate location search for the John Innes Centre on Google, or use ///flames.eagle.moss on what three words to find our reception.
By Car
The John Innes Centre is located to the south west of Norwich, it is best to approach from the Watton Road (B1108). The Norwich Research Park is well signposted. Search for the John Innes Centre on Google, or use ///flames.eagle.moss on what three words to find our reception. There is an on-site car park. On arrival visitors will be prompted to log their registration number at the conference centre reception.
By Bus
Local bus providers include First Norfolk and Suffolk and KonectBus. For up to date information about bus numbers and timetables, visit their websites, and look for buses to the UEA, or the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital. Both the UEA and hospital are within walking distance from the John Innes Centre. Bus stops are shown on the map.
By Bicycle
There are several cycle storage facilities on-site. The John Innes Centre and the Norwich Research Park are served by two pedalway routes from Norwich Railway station and the city centre, one through the UEA (pink route) and one via Newmarket Road and Cringleford (purple route). You can download a map of the pedalways from Norwich City Council’s website.
By Train
Norwich has a direct train line to London and Cambridge. The John Innes Centre is 5 miles from Norwich Train Station.
By Air
Norwich International Airport is 5.2 miles from the John Innes Centre. The airport provides links to international destinations via Schiphol and Manchester airports, and there are direct links to various UK destinations.
London Stansted Airport is 80 miles from the John Innes Centre, and is accessible by train from Norwich via Ely.
